Associated Eye Care is proud to participate in Operation Sight, a non profit organization whose mission is to restore the vision and improve the lives of individuals suffering from the vision restrictions of cataracts and who otherwise could not afford the surgery. Operation Sight is the ASCRS Foundation’s (American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery) US-based charitable cataract surgery program and enlists the help of the highest quality, volunteer healthcare providers in the ocular community to assist qualifying individuals by providing state of the art cataract surgery at no charge.

If you would like to donate to Associated Eye Care’s Operation Sight program, you can do so by visiting the St. Croix Valley Foundation (SCVF) website. SCVF manages Associated Eye Care’s funds and their website is secure. Once on the SCVF website, click the Give Now button, select Associated Eye Care at the bottom of the list and click Donate. All donations made go towards The Operation Sight initiative, which provides cataract surgery to those who could not otherwise afford it.   Visit Operation Sight’s website for more info.

Your support is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

“So much is written about the need for medical care in the developing world, but there’s an often overlooked need here in our own communities. Modern cataract surgery can improve vision to where people can return to work and lead full and productive lives. By teaming with the ASCRS Foundation and Operation Sight, Associated Eye Care is working to do our part here in Minnesota.”

Cataracts cause a clouding of the eye, leading to blindness if left untreated. Poor vision caused by cataracts makes driving or reading difficult, and often impossible. A person’s ability to work and support a family is greatly affected. This condition is treatable by surgery, but sometimes individuals do not have access to insurance coverage or the means to pay for the procedure. Operation Sight improves lives by restoring vision through free cataract surgery, including pre- and post-operative care for up to ninety days.

On November 6th 2015, four volunteer surgeons from Associated Eye Care performed cataract surgery on 6 patients who qualified through the ASCRS Foundation. Many of the administrative and surgical staff from Associated Eye Care also volunteered their time to assist with processing and patient preparation.

The first Operation Sight day was a resounding success and preparations are well underway for 2016 and beyond. New Operation Sight dates will be announced on our website and through social media, so like us on Facebook to stay up to date. Associated Eye Care accepts applications for the Operation Sight initiative on an ongoing basis and the qualification process takes approximately 4 weeks to complete. Individuals are required to complete the application in its entirety prior to submittal. Only complete applications will be considered.
